Rincon Consultants named a Bicycle Friendly Business by the League of American Bicyclists

Oakland Office Receives Bronze Award

The League of American Bicyclists recognized the Rincon Consultants’ Oakland office with a Bronze Bicycle Friendly BusinessSM (BFBSM) award, joining over 1,000 visionary businesses across the country that have received the honor.

Proud to be a BFB.jpgWith the announcement of 58 new and renewing BFBs today, Rincon Consultants joins a cutting-edge group of 3 current Bicycle Friendly Businesses in Oakland and 1,118 businesses nationally, which range from local companies to Fortune 500 companies that are transforming the American workplace. Rincon Consultants provides environmental planning and related services for many local jurisdictions in the Bay Area, such as Berkeley, San Francisco, Palo Alto, San Leandro, and San Mateo County.

“The League of American Bicyclists is excited to recognize this latest group of new and renewing Bicycle Friendly Businesses for making their workplaces and their communities safer, happier, healthier, and more sustainable through bicycling,” said Amelia Neptune, Director of the Bicycle Friendly America program. “We applaud these businesses, including Rincon Consultants, for leading the charge in creating a more bicycle-friendly America for everyone.”

Rincon Consultants’ Oakland office has become a leader in active transportation in the Bay Area, with bicycle and pedestrian projects forming a core part of our business, and we walk the talk with close to 50 percent of our employees commuting by bike. Our office encourages bicycling as an easy option for transportation by providing secure indoor bicycle parking and incentives such as Bike to Work Week prizes. We are also located in the heart of Oakland above the 12th Street BART Station, which facilitates combined bike and transit trips.

“We are extremely honored to be named by one of America’s premier bicycle advocacy organizations for our efforts to make Rincon Consultants a welcome home for staff who cycle to our work places,” said Stephen Svete, Principal and Vice President of Rincon Consultants. “The honor is especially valued, as the firm consults to local governments statewide on the planning and analysis of trails and other active transportation facilities.”

Moving forward, Rincon Consultants will now have access to a variety of tools and technical assistance from the League to become even more bicycle-friendly. When our employees bike, great things happen: a more enjoyable commute, decreased carbon footprint, better personal health, and a greater connection to our community.

Rincon Recognized Among America's Leading Job Creators

Posted on Wed, Nov 6, 2013

Rincon Consultants was recently featured in the 2nd annual Inc. Hire Power Awards, recognizing the private businesses that have generated the most jobs in the past 18 months. Rincon generated 22 jobs from January 1st, 2012 to June 30th 2013, an increase of 32%, placing it among the top four private business job creators within the Environmental Services industry.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that only 222,000 full-time jobs were added in 2012—compare those numbers to the honorees of the Inc. magazine’s Hire Power Awards, which created 69,182 jobs between January 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

“Rincon is honored to receive this recognition and owes its success to our highly talented team of professionals, an employee-focused company culture, and a loyal client base that has supported us over the years,” says Michael Gialketsis, President of Rincon.

“For the second year in a row, we are pleased to recognize the employers who are putting Americans back to work for a second time,” says Eric Schurenberg, Editor-in-Chief of Inc. “The Hire Power Awards are the only awards that single out job creators. We think it’s fitting to pay tribute to company founders not just for their business prowess but also for their immense contribution to the welfare of U.S. workers and the vitality of the U.S. economy.”
