Soil Excavation for Lead and Arsenic Contamination, Metals, VOCs, and Hydrocarbons - Private Client

Rincon completed a site assessment and remediation project at an industrial facility located in San Diego. Manufacturing performed onsite include: electroplating, silk-screening, spray painting, metal and plastics fabrication and machining, sand blasting, alodining, electronics cleaning and assembly, pressure testing, and testing of other equipment. These manufacturing processes included the use of metals, solvents, hydrocarbons, and other chemicals.

Rincon prepared an initial Remedial Action Plan and a Revised Remedial Action Plan for the subject property. Rincon’s environmental remediation was conducted under the regulatory oversight of the County of San Diego Department of Environmental Health. The proposed plans for development included excavation and removal of soil for a subterranean garage to depths up to 24 feet below grade. Rincon’s remedial activities included excavation and disposal of approximately 15,000 cubic yards of soil impacted with total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs), lead, arsenic, barium, chromium, or copper. Impacted soil was excavated until confirmation soil samples indicated that concentrations of the contaminants of concern were below the detection limits required by the County of San Diego, or the bottom of the proposed construction excavation envelope was reached.
