Orange Grove Park Environmental Site Assessments
At the Orange Grove Park in Hacienda Heights, California, Rincon completed a Phase II environmental site assessment and Supplemental Phase II environmental site assessment. The 5 acre Orange Grove Park is located on the western portion of the Orange Grove Middle School property.
The initial Phase II was conducted with a hand auger to advance 10 soil borings and collect soil samples for laboratory analysis. In addition, soil samples were collected from the soil stockpile and the stockpile was properly covered for storage onsite. The Phase II identified the presence of arsenic and polychlorinated biphenyls in a soil pile present onsite and recommended removal of the impacted soil. Prior to proper removal of the soil pile, the site was cleared of weeds and scrub and the soil pile was inadvertently leveled.
The Supplemental Phase II evaluated the potential remaining polychlorinated biphenyl concentrations in the soil following the inadvertent leveling of the soil pile onsite. A hand auger was used to advance four soil borings and collect soil samples for polychlorinated biphenyl analysis. The concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyl detected in the soil samples did not exceed the regulatory guidelines and no further assessment was recommended.
