A multidisciplinary team from Rincon presented a Comprehensive Environmental Regulatory Update for Public Works Projects workshop this past Monday in collaboration with the American Public Works Association (APWA) Ventura County Chapter. The team consisted of Senior Environmental Planners, Senior Biologists, an Environmental Scientist and Remediation Specialist,  and a Cultural Resources Specialist.

The workshop covered a range of topics from CEQA and the 2019 Updates to the CEQA Guidelines, to an overview on general regulatory framework and permitting, including new developments with Waters of the U.S. Rule Update, and a refresher on Assembly Bill 52 and the state practice for Native American consultation. Additionally, there was discussion on how to handle contamination and hazardous materials, and segments focusing on Transportation and Water projects. The workshop concluded with guidance regarding environmental requirements in response to “Emergency Situations” and “Emergency Projects”, including lessons learned from our recent project.

Thank you to the participants and APWA for the opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise in the various disciplines of the environmental regulatory world.
