Brightline West Breaks Ground!

This past week in Las Vegas, Nevada, Brightline West initiated construction on the first true high-speed rail system in the United States that will connect Las Vegas (southern end of The Strip) to Southern California (Rancho Cucamonga). This 218-mile rail system spanning two states will be fully electric and is poised to be a major economic boost by generating thousands of jobs from construction through ongoing maintenance of the railway.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by notable figures including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Brightline Founder Wes Edens, Senator Jacky Rosen, California Rep. Pete Aguilar, Senior Advisor to President Biden Steve Benjamin, and many more. The Rincon leads for this project, Torin Snyder, Christina Shushnar, and Dean Ritter, were in attendance alongside Sarah Watterson, President, Brightline and Andrew Mack, SVP Development Strategy & Permitting, Brightline. This is a monumental project for Rincon, a significant achievement that symbolizes our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community development.

Rincon’s Role

Rincon was selected as an environmental compliance consultant to provide environmental permitting and compliance support for the design, construction, and post-construction phases of the 218-mile alignment spanning two states. The Rincon team has been instrumental in supporting Brightline West with pre-construction compliance laying the groundwork leading up to this impressive milestone! We are excited to get our boots on the ground and make history as part of this inspiring team!

“People have been dreaming of high-speed rail in America for decades – and now, with billions of dollars of support made possible by President Biden’s historic infrastructure law, it’s finally happening. Partnering with state leaders and Brightline West, we’re writing a new chapter in our country’s transportation story that includes thousands of union jobs, new connections to better economic opportunity, less congestion on the roads, and less pollution in the air.” – Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg
